Black Girls can Heal Incorporation is an agency providing mentoring programs for middle and high school female youth of color in the Greater New York area. The program works to form partnerships with local school districts and the juvenile court system. The goal for Black Girls Can Heal, is to foster a commitment to young girls of color that will promote guidance, enforce positive relationships, strong interpersonal skills and provide opportunities for reflection, growth and self examination.
Through repeated failures in the classroom and the development of destructive behaviors, at-risk and disadvantage young girls have lost faith in the their futures and possibilities that await them if they are successful in refocusing and putting their lives back together. In order to effectively accomplish this goal, young girls must have guidance from a positive and trusting adult, who will work with them to produce their best effort and reinforce personal respect.
Black Girls Can Heal is a program that focuses on the growing number of young girls that are either falling through the cracks at school, struggling with their mental health or are already entangled with the juvenile court system. The goal of this program is to identify young girls of color who are going to or are currently having a difficult time transitioning into adulthood and offer positive support systems to avoid the complications and distractions that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal will always remain the same: empower young girls to become the most confident & healthy versions of themselves.
